We are surrounded by a market of goods and services. There are too many options to choose from. If we want toothpaste, we are aware of at least three companies manufacturing toothpaste; but which on do we buy? To create a lasting impression about the brand, companies advertise. When the competition is too high, advertisements are most often targeted to the competitor not to the customer. Advertising if not ethical and reasonable, will lose customer goodwill. Besides the ethics of the content of the ad, there are many laws to comply with while making ads. Further the competitive spirit in the market needs to be maintained. Advertisement must persuade the buyer by enhancing its positives, not the competitors’ negatives.
